This website and team have been created to help me achieve my goal of raising money and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  I have been personally honored to be nominated for the 2010 Woman of the Year Campaign.  As a hematology and bone marrow transplant nurse at UCSF Medical center for the past 20+ years, I have a very strong connection to the mission of the LLS and I am excited to do as much as I can to support this organization; and to honor the hundreds of patients that we at UCSF have been privileged to take care of over the 24 years and I am very humbled by this nomination.  This campaign is not about me or for me and if you click on the names of any of my honorees and see their pictures and hear their stories, you will understand why I have been so passionate about this field for so many years.  These patients have enriched our lives in ways that are difficult to describe and we support their heroic struggles as a team, while they battle blood cancers with grace, humor and strength.

 Approximately every 4 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every 10 minutes someone dies of a blood cancer.  These diseases cross all boundaries, race, gender, age, socio-economic status and they are devastating. This is the reality that I and the entire Heme/Transplant team deal with at UCSF as well as many other centers around the world on a daily basis.

 This Campaign kicks off on March 25 and ends with a Gala on June 5^th. 

 Over the next 10 weeks, I will be updating this site frequently and featuring top researchers, amazing women in medicine, patient stories and education about these diseases.  We have many events around the Bay area to have fun while we are trying to raise money and awareness.  Most events will feature a UCSF Hematologist and a patient to connect you to this very worthwhile organization and cause.

 We have a Huge Goal, $100,000 in 10 weeks, but I know you can all open your heart to help me cure blood cancers.  I appreciate your generosity in donating ANY amount to support this campaign and these patient honorees.
